"If the forest is the pride of Germany, then let's talk about what actually happened in the forest."
— Collier Schorr
As an artist I am a creator engaged in the dialectic of aesthetic order, beauty and death. Photography has a long history of examining
death. I trace these common grounds and investigate their relationships to the landscape.
Being the photographer and the model I create scenes in which killing and suffering are embedded into the land. Historic battlefield photographs have been as much an influence as contemporary images of genocide and human rights abuse. My photographs emerge out of the atrocities and horrors of the contemporary human condition.
